Hold On Tight, Love at Myrtle Beach

September 20, 2016 | Posted in: Kinfolk 94

Tonight, Kinfolk 94 hosts the book release for “Hold on Tight, Love at Myrtle Beach”, with photography by Ben Rosenzweig, and creative direction by Twin Bro Bro.

This project was shot over Memorial Day weekend 2015 at a motorcycle festival held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina known as “Black Bike Week”

There’s a lot of stigma surrounding this event from being portrayed in the media as a violent, dangerous rampage of the city full of chaos and destruction.

We wanted to show the other side of what the festival is really about, human connections, love and respect. The aim of this book is to show shared moments between people meeting and connecting through the motorcycles, colorful cars and Hip-Hop music and culture.

The project also is about the care, respect and customization that goes into both the motorcycles and cars people bring to the event as well as wardrobe, color coordination. They wax and clean their cars every morning, press and iron fresh clothes, put on crispy new air Jordans and Nikes to go see and be seen cruising the strip.

You can purchase the book at the event tonight and at The Kinfolk Store. For more information on the artist, visit www.benrosenzweig.com.
